Dunlop Super3 Series Sydney field set

FOLLOWING a lengthy break, the Dunlop Super3 Series will burst back into life this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, with both the outright and Super3 Cup titles well up for grabs.

Two rounds remain in the championship, this weekend in Sydney and then the finale’ at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, two weeks later.

A strong field of 14 entries will once again join the Dunlop Super2 series grid for a combined field of more than 30 cars this weekend.

The Sydney venue is notable as being the first location that the two feeder categories raced together, when they joined forces to share the circuit during the Pandemic-interrupted 2020 season last year.

The battles for both the outright Super3 Series and Super3 Cup titles remain wide open heading into the final two events.

The field for Sydney Motorsport Park will include the Supercars debut of Brad Jones Racing young-gun Elly Morrow.

After sampling a Supercar at a BJR evaluation day last year, Morrow – a graduate of Tom Williamson Motorsport’s karting program – was due to race at the Winton Super3 round earlier this year before it was cancelled.

She then gained her first competitive laps aboard her BJR Commodore at Sydney Motorsport Park two weeks ago, competing in the New South Wales Sports Sedan Series round to gain some real-world Sydney racing experience prior to her Super3 debut this weekend.

Meanwhile, Paul Boschert will make his Super3 debut – some 13 months after he was originally set to do so at Mount Panorama.

The Canberra-based driver, a successful Sports Sedan competitor, had entered in the Super3 event at Bathurst last October however was unable to compete.

His entry will this weekend come aboard a VE Holden Commodore operated by his own Weldcraft Motorsport team.

The combined Dunlop Series grid hits the track for practice on Friday, while the Super3 field will again enjoy their own 10-minute stand alone qualifying session on Saturday to set the grid for the first race of the weekend – to start at 6pm that evening and run into the twilight.

A second session on Sunday morning will set the grid for race two, which will be staged as a warm-up event for the final Supercars race prior to Bathurst.

All the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo Sports and the Seven Network around Australia.
