Dream Racing Australia reveals expansion plans
Leading National Trans Am Series team Dream Racing Australia is aiming to expand its operation from three to five entries for not only the rest of this season, but in 2022.
Dream Racing Australia currently enter three full-time entries led by title contender Nathan Herne, newcomer Chris Formosa and team co-owner Craig Scutella, while at Sydney Motorsport Park a fourth car was driven by West Australian Ron Moller.

Scutella is hoping to run as many as five entries at Bathurst ahead of continuing this into 2022.
“We’ve got three full-time entries committed to the National Trans Am Series at the moment, but we do have more cars,” said Scutella “We’ve got Nathan Herne in one, Chris Formosa and myself, then we’ve got two other cars and if it had been COVID-free we would have had five full-time entries.
“We ran a fourth car at Sydney Motorsport Park for Ron Muller, who came from WA to race in that.
“The plan for this year is to have four-five cars at Bathurst, we’ve got four committed and we’re still open for a fifth driver, so if someone wants to come and join the best team, with the best crew there’s an opportunity to do so.”
Scutella revealed the team’s Dodge Challenger is near-new and interest has been high, but the team is aiming to place a competitive driver in the seat.
“We don’t want to bring anyone on board,” Scutella stated.
“We want somebody talented; we want somebody with miles under their belt, we want somebody with a good name and a good reputation for doing the right thing.”
Fielding extra entries will not take away from the team’s pursuit of the title for Herne.
“It’d be great to finish the year with Nathan as winner of the inaugural National Trans Am Series,” said Scutella.
“If we can get Dream Racing Australia and Nathan Herne to the title this year, it would be phenomenal and that’s given the level of competition has just intensified this season.
“It’d be a great testament to Kim Jane, Cam Fisher and the crew, so the full attention is there though we will be able to accommodate a fourth and potentially a fifth.”
Dream Racing Australia will enter four cars next year, confirmed Scutella, including a new chassis for himself. Formosa will continue and a third driver is expected to be announced soon.
