Stakes raised away from the track
Just as it is for professional drivers, preparation is important ahead of the next race meeting especially when there has been a considerable gap between rounds.
The concluding rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS promises to be a close fought battle in each class.
The closest battle is in GT Championship Am class as the AMAC Lamborghini Huracan GT3 shared by Andrew Macpherson and Ben Porter holds a slender five-point advantage ahead of Tony Quinn in the Local Legends Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Importance in preparation has been emphasised of late due to the implementation of lockdowns and restrictions forcing many to turn to simulators, which have not only become a useful tool for professional drivers to keep fit, but also for their amateur counterparts.
Some of the top amateur drivers have turned to this preparation, especially during the hiatus away from the track.
Tony Bates is one of those to turn to the simulator when preparing for a race meeting to ensure he is sharp when next he races the Bostik-supported Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 GT3 LMS alongside Chaz Mostert.
“The sim works really good,” Bates said.
“I use it to familiarise myself with the basics of motorsport, which are your reference points and getting your eye in again.
“It’s been quite some time since the last round, I haven’t been in the car, and every time we plan a test day or an event to prepare ourselves it gets cancelled, so the sim has helped.”
Approaching the concluding rounds of the season, Bates is fourth in the points after thirds at each of the three rounds so far, the last partnered by Dylan O’Keeffe as Mostert had Supercars commitments.
The next round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park on October 15-17.
