NEW AUSSIE MUSCLE TO TACKLE THE MOUNTAIN
Those who love Aussie Muscle would be well-advised to keep an eye on the Sieders Racing Team this weekend, as the Australian Production Cars kicks off its 2017 season as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour (April 14-16).The team has built a new Ford FGII GT-F – the only one of its kind on the event’s entry list – for car owner Jeremy Gray, with Gray to drive the car this weekend with Jason Gomersall while the Sieders Racing Team runs the program.The Billstein Shock Absorbers entry, also supported by Australian Transmission Components and Big Mate, will compete in Class A.”The whole idea of building this car was to bring some more Aussie muscle to the Series – there isn’t really too many Falcons out there and so we thought we would build our own,” Sieders Racing Team Principal Luke Sieders explained.”This will be the debut for this new car, following a shakedown at Queensland Raceway and a few laps at Eastern Creek.”It has been a long build process – starting back in August – so to say that we are keen to see the car in action is an understatement.”We expect it to be fast and for our entry to be competitive – we have good drivers, a quick car, and we hope to mix it with the best of them up the front.”As it is a supercharged V8 we are hoping the horsepower will be very helpful around the Mountain. It is quite a heavy car and that may hurt us when it comes to tyre life, but racing at Bathurst is definitely a big horsepower game so hopefully we can keep the pointy end thanks to what we will bring to the table.”In everything that we do as a team, we always go out there to win, and this event is no different. We are not under any illusions as to how tough this event is; there are some pretty impressive cars out there so it won’t be easy by any means but we will be giving it our best and hopefully we have built a car that can do it.”With the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour doubling as round one of the 2017 Australian Production Cars, Sieders says the team may be back for future APC events across the year.”It all depends on Bathurst as far as the rest of the APC season for this particular car,” explained Sieders.”As a team, we are looking to do a lot more when it comes to the Australian Production Cars, so you will have to stay tuned, but as far as this car goes we will just have to wait and see how this first event goes before we can lock in any future plans.” The Sieders Racing-run entry will be part of a 66-car strong entry list for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.To be held across April 14-16, the event doubles as the first round of a six-event calendar for the 2017 Australian Production Cars season.
