Dream Racing Australia continues improvement at Queensland Raceway
Rookie Josh Webster and Masters Cup leader Craig Scutella made strides towards strong results in their respective classes at Round 4 of the National Trans Am Series at Queensland Raceway.Entering the weekend fourth in the outright standings, Tasmanian Webster leaves in the same position after a consistent run at Queensland Raceway where he finished the last race of the event in ninth.Webster is one of few drivers to finish every race this season, and it is paying dividends as he continues to learn in his first season in a national motorsport category.Experiencing overheating troubles, Webster demonstrated maturity beyond his years to bring his Chevrolet Camaro 12th in Race 2 after the opening event was stopped after a first lap incident and not restarted.Further progress was made on Sunday as National Trans Am contested four races for the first time across a weekend ensuring double the chance to score solid points. Adding an 11th and ninth to his tally, Webster maintained fourth in the series.Scutella proved consistent across the weekend in the Masters Cup after qualifying third as he finished with a trio of second places to further extend his lead in the class.The historic Sandown circuit is next on the agenda for Dream Racing Australia and the National Trans Am Series on September 8-10.Josh Webster#200 Document Management Tas/Dream Racing Australia, Chevrolet Camaro“We started really strong in qualifying, we were sitting in 11th for a couple of minutes as we only completed one run to save the car and tyres due to the length of the weekend,” Webster said.“We ended up getting knocked to 13th because we decided not to do our second run.“Race 1 was positive as we ended up 12th and for the second event we went backwards. We weren’t happy with the car balance, so the crew tuned it up for Race 3 and the car was a rocket, We moved forward to inside the top 10.“To move forward is a positive step and to end the weekend on a high is all we wanted, so we’re looking forward to Sandown next month.”Craig Scutella#777 Caragabal Trading Enterprises/Dream Racing Australia, Chevrolet Camaro“Josh entered the round fourth and remains in that place heading to Sandown, while I came in leading the Masters Cup, which I continue to do after this event too,” said Scutella.“Overall, it was good to maintain those positions, but slightly disappointing with our track position. Josh is a very capable driver and I’d expect him to be a top five or six racer in the final three rounds of the Trans Am Series. He needs to just get coordinated and I think he can do that.“Reasonable results here in Queensland, but hopefully at Sandown, Sydney and Bathurst finish off the year strong to get Josh into the top three for the series, which for a rookie would be great.“I also still want to wrap up the Masters Cup, which I missed out by a few points last year, so I’m equally determined to win it this season.”
