Nathan Herne doubles up at Bathurst
It was a lights-to-flag performance from Nathan Herne, who backed up his race victory from earlier today in the second race of Turtle Wax Trans Am at Bathurst.
Herne led away from title rival Paynter Dixon Wall Racing Mustang of Tim Brook and Ben Grice in the All American Driveline example as towards the tail of the field there was a tangle.

Returning from the US after contesting the Stadium Super Trucks and sporting new backing from Northern Air Conditioning, Shaun Richardson tangled with rookie West Australian Brock Boley in addition to Jackson Rice, who was forced to pit in his Orafol Dodge Challenger due to front damage.
Another to strike trouble was NAPA Auto Parts Ford Mustang driver Jett Johnson as he encountered a mechanical problem, which forced him to stop, then he restarted again to only end up off at The Chase.
A safety car followed after Johnson’s first stop, but Herne took control to lead Brook for the entire duration.
However behind, there was plenty of squabbling with Owen Kelly dropping back to eighth in the Garry Rogers Motorsport Mustang, but climbed to third by the race’s conclusion.
The battle form the opening race between Breeze Holiday Parks driver Brett Holdsworth and Nash Morris in the Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang reignited. This fell in favour of Holdsworth, who picked up fourth on the line from Jon McCorkindale.
As for Grice, a gearbox stuck in third dropped him down the order, as did teammate Nic Carroll after running as high as fifth leaving his luckless start to the season to continue.
This was no concern for Herne as he took victory from Brook, Kelly, Holdsworth, McCorkindale and Morris.
Behind, Lochie Dalton continued his gradual rise through the field to be seventh from Edan Thornburrow, Dream Racing Australia’s Elliot Barbour and Kyle Gurton.
Tomorrow’s Turtle Wax Trans Am Series finale is on at 9:20am AEST live and uninterrupted on Stan Sport.
