Golding Sweeps Bathurst, Title Fight Goes to Adelaide
James Golding has completed his clean sweep of the penultimate round of the Trico Trans Am Series at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

The CTE Custom Transport Equipment-backed, Garry Rogers Motorsport Mustang driver brought home victory in Race 2 this afternoon at Mount Panorama to complete the perfect weekend.
He was fastest in practice and qualifying yesterday and won both of today’s races at the Mountain to claim overall round honours.
Golding led from start to finish again in this afternoon’s race and led home title combatants James Moffat (Team Valvoline GRM Mustang) and Todd Hazelwood (TFH Hire Services Mustang).
The win was Golding’s fifth race win of this year’s Trico Trans Am Series, equalling Moffat and Hazelwood for the most race wins in the series for 2024.
“It wasn’t easy, Moff put the pressure on there, but it was awesome with a 1-2 for GRM,” said Golding post-race.
Moffat leapt to second place on the opening lap and held the position all the way to the finish, though again came under pressure at various stages from Trico Trans Am Series points leader Hazelwood.
The result for Moffat gave him second place for the round.
Hazelwood sat fifth in the opening stages before he picked off Nathan Herne (BlueGold Industries Mustang) at the start of lap two and made a move on Jordan Boys (The Racing Academy Mustang) on lap five up Mountain Straight.
The result means Hazelwood will take a 24-point lead over Moffat into next weekend’s series decider at the VAILO Adelaide 500.
Herne’s fourth place in this afternoon’s race earned him the final podium finish for the round. He headed Boys, Elliot Cleary, Tom Davies, Brett Holdsworth, Elliot Barbour and Pro Am class victor Josh Thomas in Race 2.
Thomas led home fellow Pro Am drivers Mark Bailey and Brett Niall.
Supercheap Auto Racing Mustang pilot Nash Morris finished 18th, two laps down, after being forced to pit to replace a punctured tyre suffered on the opening lap.
GRM Valvoline driver Edan Thornburrow retired after nine of the 15 laps due to a drive belt issue.
Pro Am racer John Holinger was a non-starter in Race 2 after an accident at the top of the Mountain in Race 1 earlier in the day.
The Trico Trans Am Series heads to the VAILO Adelaide 500 next weekend to crown a champion in the final round of this year’s series.
It marks the first visit of the series to the world-famous Adelaide street circuit since the category’s debut season in 2020.
