Trans Am Race Winner Returns for Mountain to the City
Three-time Trico Trans Am Series race winner Tim Brook will make his return to the category at Mount Panorama, marking the first of a wave of driver announcements ahead of the season’s blockbuster doubleheader finale at Bathurst and Adelaide.
Brook will once again suit up for Waltec Motorsport, with the Sydney based operation headed up by Aaron Tebb expected to field four cars at Bathurst. The pairing last raced almost 12 months ago at Mount Panorama, where Brook was able to carve his way to fifth in Race 3 despite starting the weekend from the back due to a mechanical fault.
Across 42 races in the category, dating back to 2021, Brook has racked up 14 podium finishes and stands level with Nathan Herne on three career pole positions – behind only Aaron Seton and James Moffat.
The 38-year-old as spent much of his time in the last 12 months in a driver coaching role, and is relishing the opportunity to get back behind the wheel for two of the biggest events on the motorsport calendar.
Brook will join an expanded field of cars taking on Mount Panorama as part of the Bathurst International, before making the trip down South for the season finale at the Adelaide 500.
“I just enjoy driving these cars, they get me excited and sometimes you sort of take that for granted,” said Brook.
“When you line up to do a race in Trans Am, you know that it’s going to be extremely rewarding if you can get through and make the most of the package you’ve got. The cars move around a lot, they sound awesome and you’re spending a lot of time driving the thing sideways, it’s a lot of fun.
“There’s a bit of unfinished business for us at Bathurst. We went there last year and had the pace to put it up the front, but we had a mechanical and we spent all weekend trying to make up for it. I’ve never raced at Adelaide, so I’m excited to tick that off the list and go racing as part of a massive event.
“I’d like to hope we can land somewhere at the front but having not done a lot of racing lately there’s realistically something to be said for seat time or a lack thereof. But we’ll go and have a good time and just go as well as I can,” concluded Brook.
The 2024 Trico Trans Am Series resumes from November 8-10 at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.
