D’Alberto Sweeps Friday Practice in Queensland

Tony D’Alberto has made a statement with his Friday form at Queensland Raceway.

Full results available here.

While he’s ruled himself out of a Supercheap Auto TCR Australia title challenge after a rocky start to the 2024 season, D’Alberto is gunning for as many race wins as possible.

And he should be right in the hunt at this weekend’s EVENTelec Race Queensland, if practice is anything to go by.

D’Alberto backed up his session-topping pace from the morning with another fine run as Practice 2 played out in warmer conditions.

Aaron Cameron set the pace early before Josh Buchan and then Brad Harris grabbed the ascendancy.

It looked like there’d be little to separate Buchan, Harris and D’Alberto – three hundredths of a second covering them at one stage – until the Wall Racing Honda driver blew the field away with a 1m13.8261s late in the piece.

No one had an answer for that, leaving D’Alberto to complete a Friday sweep in Ipswich and be well-placed for the weekend ahead.

Buchan and Harris stayed second and third from Cameron, Dylan O’Keeffe, Ryan Casha, Tom Oliphant, Will Harris, points leader Zac Soutar and Jordan Cox in 10th.

Rounding out the field was Glenn Nirwan, Ben Stewart and Ben Bargwanna.

Saturday TCR action will begin with a two-part qualifying session from 8:45am.

The 7plus broadcast from QR will start at 11am tomorrow.
