Jordan Cox Secures Trans Am Debut at Queensland Raceway
Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series race winner Jordan Cox will make his debut in the Trico Trans Am Series next week at Queensland Raceway.
Cox will become the first driver to complete the TCR/Trans Am double in the same weekend, with both categories contesting the fifth round of the 2024 season from August 2-4 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
The 30-year-old cult hero has landed the drive via Trans Am veteran John Holinger, who has handed the driving duties of his second Holinger Engineering car to Cox. The car was last seen at Bathurst in 2022 where Holinger was tipped into a spectacular crash down Conrod Straight, and has since been extensively rebuilt.
The TCR star has amassed an impressive resume in the category since 2019, tied for second in all-time wins and accruing 22 podiums. Four of those podiums have come already in 2024, where Cox has won twice and sits fourth in the standings.
It won’t be the first time Cox has driven in Trans Am/TA2 machinery however, after making starts in the TA2 Muscle Car Series in 2023 which included a weekend sweep at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Cox joins an ever growing competitive list of drivers set to take on Queensland Raceway, following the recent additions of Brett Holdsworth and James Simpson to the field.
Round five of the 2024 Trico Trans Am Series takes place from August 2-4 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries. The round will feature a four-race format for the final time in 2024. Live coverage will feature on the Seven Network.

“Excitement would be an understatement, it’s such a great category and especially this year with such a strong depth of drivers. Trans Am has really turned up a notch,” said Cox.
“I’m up for the challenge, I might have some back-to-back races between the categories but they’re both very unique cars and I’ve got enough experience in the Peugeot that I know how to switch on very quickly in that car. I’ll take any opportunity to jump in a race car and Trans Am is something that has always excited me, but I’ve never had the chance to race in the category before with the TCR programme.
“I’m super grateful to John (Holinger) for the opportunity to have a crack this round. Queensland Raceway is one of my favourite racetracks, it’s so simple but to get the extra hundredths and thousandths you’ve got to be on it.
“It definitely won’t be easy, the drivers and teams are incredibly strong in Trans Am, but with a consistent weekend and ensuring we maximise ourselves I’m hopeful we will come away with some solid results,” concluded Cox.

“I ran into him during the TA2 round where he was racing, he’s a very good steerer and thought he’d be a good fit in the second car. It will be a big benefit to my driving as well, in fact we had a test day recently and I improved out of sight on the day with his help,” said Holinger.
