Morris Fends off the Field for Fifth Career Trans Am Win
Nash Morris has delivered his fifth win in the Trico Trans Am Series, in race two of the third round of the season at Phillip Island.

After starting from fifth on the grid Morris lunged up the inside at turn four on lap to claim second place, before passing James Moffat (Garry Rogers Motorsport) at the end of lap one for the race lead. The race one winner fell to third place just a lap later with Elliot Cleary (The Racing Academy) able to get by in similar fashion to Morris.
There was early drama when Tom Davies was turned around at turn 10, in a three wide come-together with Ben Grice and Mark Bailey. Grice came from the back of the grid after missing race one, due to a necessary engine change following Friday’s running.
The All American Driveline & Auto Parts Ford Mustang climbed up to finish in 10th, just ahead of fellow rear-of-grid starter Edan Thornburrow.
Cleary looked to be destined to pass Morris, but a lock-up at turn four sent him back behind Moffat and allowed the Supercheap Auto Racing car a slight reprieve. A decisive pass at the same corner which earlier plagued him, saw Cleary get back by Moffat for second.
It was short lived however with Cleary spearing off the road at turn nine, limping back to the pits and retiring after it appears fluid was leaking from the #19.
Despite closing in over the remaining laps Moffat was unable to get close enough for a move on Morris, who held on for his fifth career race win in the Trico Trans Am Series.
James Golding followed his GRM teammate across the line to complete the podium, with Jordan Boys in fourth just 1.7346 seconds off the race lead.
John Holinger took out the victory in Pro-Am, ahead of Chris Pappas and Josh Webster, with Mark Bailey receiving a 10 second time penalty post-race.
