Aaron Love to make S5000 debut in Sydney

SUPER 2 racer Aaron Love will make his S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship debut at Sydney Motorsport Park this week, driving the ACM Finance / 88 Racing entry run by Team BRM in Round 4 of the Gold Star.

Love currently races for Blanchard Racing Team in the second-tier Supercars series, where he currently sits seventh in the championship with a pair of second-placed finishes his best results.

That follows a successful stint in one-make Porsche racing where he finished runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship last year while also racing Porsche Supercup internationally.

Love’s S5000 debut comes with Team BRM, the South Australian squad a familiar scene for the West Aussie.

Love finished third in the 2018 Australian Formula 4 Championship with BRM before progressing into one-make Porsche racing.

His older brother Jordan also raced for the team in the junior open-wheel category.

Following a seat fitting last Friday, Love completed a brief shakedown / acclimation test at The Bend Motorsport Park on Sunday ahead of the round this week.

The S5000 Australian Drivers Championship will launch into the second half of the 2023 Gold Star title race this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park at the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight event.

Following practice and qualifying, three races will be staged across Saturday and Sunday.

All three races will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.

“It’s exciting to jump into a Formula car for the first time in a long time,” Love said.

“I’ve been doing some Radical stuff but it’s been a long time since I’ve raced anything like this so I’m really looking forward to the challenge and learning the car and the series.

“There’s no doubt it’s going to be competitive and close at the front.

“Thanks to Albert (Callegher) and ACM Finance for their support and to Team BRM, it’s great to be back with the team that helped launch my national racing career.

“It’s a great opportunity for more seat time in a fast, challenging car in a long break between Super2 rounds and I plan to make the most of it.”
