Lange return adds to Winton Trans Am field

QUEENSLANDER Nick Lange will return to the Trans Am Series at Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton this June.

Fresh from his series debut at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International last November, NL Racing will return their Tefol Group Chevy to the grid at Winton as the series races into the third round of what is shaping as the series’ most competitive season to date.

Lange’s Camaro features major backing from Tefol and at Winton will sport the same livery as long-time friend and racer, Ashley Jarvis – himself a former Trans Am & TA2 pilot.

Jarvis will race a Holden Monaro in the opening round of the Precision National Sports Sedan Series with the two cars to run the same livery.

“I’ve recently relocated to the Gold Coast to work closely with Ashley, who helps out on the Tefol Camaro,” Lange said.

“He’s running the same livery on his Monaro as our Tefol Racing Camaro which is a great concept and provides our sponsors with extra exposure. We’re looking forward to racing together at Winton in our respective categories.”

NL Racing operates as a privateer squad built from a group of mates who love the sport.

Lange, who grew up near Kingaroy in country Queensland, started his career in the popular Queensland Gemini series, before progressing to work with Sherrin Motorsport in Carrera Cup in a behind-the-scenes role.

His driving continued into Production Car racing, including a class podium finish in the 2008 Bathurst 12 Hour.

After a break from competition, Lange moved from his Airlie Beach home to the Gold Coast to reignite his racing career in the ever-growing world of Trans Am Competition.

As well as his debut national series performance at Mount Panorama last year, he also finished third in the TA2 Northern Series Championship in his first year behind the wheel of the Camaro.

“We’re excited to be back racing in the Trans Am Series,” Lange said.

“The competition is tough but we can’t wait to get back on track at Winton and into the thick of the action.

“We couldn’t do it without the support of our sponsors, including Tefol, TCX Services, KC’s Bar & Grill Whitsundays, Whitsunday Holiday Rentals, Whisper Restaurant & Gin Bar Whitsundays , GoodYear Autocare Labrador and Goldspring.”

The ongoing battle for the 2023 Trans Am Series will be one of seven categories in action at the Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton on June 9-11, with Saturday and Sunday’s action to be broadcast via StanSport.
