Schedule confirmed for opening round at Bathurst

This year’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS battle begins as support to the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour during Easter, with the schedule just announced.

The series last visited Mount Panorama for a three-hour endurance race where Triple Eight race Engineering duo Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Broc Feeney won the Australian Tourist Trophy driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3.

It’s the second time the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will appear at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour after racing there in 2021. Back then, Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Shane van Gisbergen took the opening race victory, while eventual series winner Yasser Shahin turned the tables in Race 2 alongside Garth Tander.

Competitors will hit the track on Friday, April 7 at 8:00am for opening practice before returning to the track at 1:40pm for the second session.

Qualifying will begin on Saturday at 10:25am as race action begins after the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour grid is decided at 2:55pm in a 60-minute encounter.

The final 60-minute race of the weekend occurs following the Hi-Tec Bathurst 6 Hour warm up at 9:20am. All times AEST.

A field comprising of Audi, Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini is expected to compete at the opening round featuring many contenders for Pro-Am, Am and GT Trophy classes.
