Lynk & Co to make Australian debut as part of TCR World Tour

The team behind Chinese brand Lynk & Co’s touring car efforts has confirmed its participation in this year’s TCR World Tour.

Cyan Racing has confirmed its participation in the new for 2023 TCR World Tour, the top tier of touring car racing globally.

Founded as the factory team of Volvo in Sweden, Cyan Racing has won multiple titles in its homeland before entering the World Touring Car Championship in 2016.

Success came in the final year of the TC1 regulations in 2017 with Thed Bjork and Volvo before aligning with Lynk & Co in 2019 winning the WTCR Teams’ title as Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher took back-to-back Drivers’ Championships in the following two seasons.

Last season, Cyan Racing elected to withdrawal halfway through the WTCR season due to concerns with the Goodyear tyres.

For the 2023 TCR World Tour, Cyan Racing will enter four Lynk & Co 03 TCRs to become the second team to confirm its participation alongside Audi’s Comtoyou Racing.

“This is the highest level of touring car racing and with new sporting regulations, as well as new tyres compared to the WTCR, we have no doubt that the competition will be extremely tough.”

Head of Geely Group Motorsport, Alexander Murdevski Schedvin is excited Lynk & Co and Cyan Racing will continue to fight for touring car raicng’s top global prize.

Drivers are yet to be confirmed for the program, with Ehrlacher, Bjork, Yvan Muller, Ma Qing Ha and Santiago Urrutia forming the 2022 line-up. Supercheap Auto TCR Australia will host two rounds of the TCR World Tour headlined by Bathurst, with the second venue yet to be announced.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia will kick off its season at AWC Race Tasmania on February 24-26 at Symmons Plains.

All rounds of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia will be broadcast live, uninterrupted and on-demand via Stan Sport.
