Yasser Shahin and Christopher Mies continue run at the top in Practice 2
The Bend Motorsport Park backed Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II driven by Yasser Shahin and Christopher Mies finished the second practice session for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS in Adelaide.
Replicating the team’s form from the opening session, Mies achieved a 1m 18.683s to lead fellow Audi Sport factory gun Kelvin van der Linde sharing the C-Tech Laser Audi with Tony Bates by 0.354s.
Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Nick Foster led the Triple Eight Race Engineering charge in third from Mercedes-AMG teammates prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim and Jamie Whincup.
Am Class leaders Gary Higgon and Paul Stokell in the KFC Audi were fifth ahead of the Bentley Continental GT3 of Mike Bailey and Brett Hobson, who took the wheel during the session.
Harrolds Volante Rosso Racing’s Ross Poulakis was seventh in his Mercedes-AMG GT3 from the Supabarn Supermarkets Audi shared by brothers James and Theo Koundouris, with the similar Hallmarc entry of Marc Cini and CHE Racing Team’s Tom Sargent in the GTC Class Porsche 911.2 GT3 Cup Car completing the top runners.
Behind, Sergio Pires in the Valmont Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra was on top in GT Trophy Class in 11th, with the next best contender being Launch Racing’s Michael Kokkinos and the Bentley Continental GT3 of Matthew Belford.
In the GT4 battle, it was again Sam Brabham for Harrolds Rosso Volante Racing in the Mercedes-AMG GT4 to be co-driven by Chris Batzios, while the class leading entry of Mark Griffith and Paul Morris has some work to do before qualifying tomorrow.
Although the race format has changed to three 40-minute races this weekend the twin 20-minute qualifying sessions remain for Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS starting at 9:20am ACDT tomorrow morning.
