Liam Talbot and Fraser Ross turn the tables in second practice at Sandown

Lead title contender Liam Talbot has clocked the fastest time in the second practice session ahead of Round 3 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Sandown.

Talbot sharing the Gtechniq Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II with Fraser Ross set a 1m 09.308s time to head into qualifying the fastest where the Harrolds Pole Award will be presented for the first time to quickest in Pro-Am and Am.

Trailing by 0.127s was the pace setting Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3 shared by Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Shane van Gisbergen, while Garth Tander completed the top three in The Bend Motorsport Park Audi he will share with last year’s series winner Yasser Shahin.

Tony Bates and David Reynolds finished fourth in the C-Tech Laser-supported Audi, but was just 0.388s in arrears.

Paul Stokell led the Am Class results and was fifth outright in the KFC Audi he’ll share with Gary Higgon, while Michael Sheargold was just behind in the RAM Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Garth Walden co-driving.

Ross Poulakis in the Harrolds Volante Rosso Racing Mercedes was again third from Marc Cini in the Hallmarc Audi and the second KFC entry of Matt Stoupas.

David Crampton alongside Trent Harrison rounded out the top 10 in his Invitational Class M Motorsport KTM X-Bow GT2.

Again, less than a second separated the GT4 Class pair as Mark Griffith sharing with Declan Fraser in the Daimler Trucks Brisbane Mercedes-AMG GT4 was 0.712s ahead of the similar Christos Batios and Sam Brabham.

The battle for the inaugural Harrolds Pole Award will commence at 9:25am AEST tomorrow ahead of the opening 60-minute encounter at 1:25pm AEST.
