Sandown schedule confirmed for Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS

Round 3 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Sandown marks a continuation of the discipline’s long history at the circuit situated in Melbourne’s metropolitan area.

Having already contested rounds at Phillip Island and Queensland Raceway in addition to the endurance title kicking off at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour, the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS is entering the business stage of its campaign.

Just eight points separate reigning winner Yasser Shahin and Melbourne Performance Centre stablemate Liam Talbot in the Gtechniq Audi.

A further 13-points in arrears is the Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG combination of Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Shane van Gisbergen, but in no way out of contention.

Rounding out the top four in Pro-Am is Tony Bates and David Reynolds driving the C-Tech Laser Audi, 14-points behind.

The Am Class is also tight at the top, with the ever improving Mark Rosser in his Catan Audi just four-points behind the lead KFC R8 LMS GT3 evo II of Gary Higgon and Paul Stokell.

Meanwhile, Brad Schumacher holds a comfortable margin in GT Trophy back to Scott Taylor.

The return of GT racing to Sandown begins with two practice sessions on Friday, the first beginning at 10:55am followed by a second session at 2:05pm.

Two 20-minute qualifying sessions begin the program on Saturday at 9:25am and 9:50am respectively, before the opening race at 1:25pm AEST.

A sole event concludes the round on Sunday at 1:35pm AEST.

Stan Sport’s live, uninterrupted and on-demand SpeedSeries coverage is between 11:00am-5:00pm AEST on Saturday, while Sunday’s broadcast is at 10:30am-5:00pm AEST.

Live action will also feature on 9Go or 9Gem on Saturday between 3:00pm-5:00pm AEST, but make sure to check your local guides.
