Kai Allen’s form continues with Practice sweep

KAI ALLEN topped both practice sessions at Sandown Raceway as the Dunlop Super3 series prepares for the fourth round of the championship this weekend. 

The Eggleston Motorsport teenager, who leads the championship, topped practice one by 0.2 seconds before extending his margin over the field to 0.6s in the second of two 40-minute sessions today.

His best of 1m10.7160s came on his 19th and final flyer late in a red-flag interrupted second session to ensure he topped the leaderboard heading into qualifying tomorrow.

Brad Vaughan was second in both sessions as he looks to close the margin to both Allen, who leads the series, and second-placed Blake Fardell.

The Mr. HDT Driver was third today, just 0.2s behind Vaughan’s Angaston Motorsport Falcon.

Jim Pollicina headed up the Super3Cup class in fourth, a fraction ahead of Jason Gomersall with Ray Hislop third in class and sixth outright.

Chris Smerdon, Brendan Strong, Steven Page and Jarred Danaher completed the top-10.

On his Dunlop Super3 debut, New Zealander Jordan Michels was 11th quickest in his Image Racing Falcon.

The field returns on Saturday for qualifying, ahead of the seventh race of the season in the afternoon.

Both sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.
