Scott Taylor wins first GT Trophy round
In a field dominated by Audi and Mercedes-AMG last weekend, Scott Taylor was the odd one out at Queensland Raceway for Round 2 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS in fielding a Porsche.
Returning to the GT Trophy field for the first time since Bathurst last year, Taylor was the sole-Porsche in the field due to the Grove team recovering from its Spa 24 Hour campaign.

Taylor’s older specification GT3-R was more than a match for leading GT Trophy contender Brad Schumacher in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra albeit practice and qualifying were held in challenging conditions.
Taylor finished second to Schumacher in the opening race before going one better in the final 60 minute event of the weekend after his rival collided with another Audi.
This gave Taylor the round victory upon his return in what was a dream result for the long-time GT competitor. It also his first solo win of the season and on his home circuit no less as Taylor completed double duty by contesting Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.
“Going racing in our own backyard, we really wanted to do a good job this weekend and I certainly enjoyed myself in two cars that I love racing,” said Taylor.
“It was good weather conditions for the most part and a great environment around me as well. I was able to really focus on my driving this weekend.
“A big credit to Aaron Tebb from Waltec Motorsport and the Ashley Seward Motorsport crew for doing a superb job preparing our GT and Sprint Challenge cars.
“Having Alex Davison on the radio as well was key.”
The next round of Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS will continue alongside the SpeedSeries at Sandown on September 16-18.
