Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia competitors in Asia
As the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS mid-season break is close to ending, many competitors have ventured across to Asia to contest rounds of our sister series, which is in the middle of a Japanese swing.
The Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS contested Round 2 at Suzuka last weekend, with Fuji coming up on Friday as part of its Fanatec Japan Cup initiative.

Triple Eight Race Engineering continued his Asian assault with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s, with Prince Jefri Ibrahim again partnering Nick Foster in the lead entry.
AMAC Motorsport returned also in its Porsche 911 GT3 R with Andrew Macpherson and Ben Porter represented in the Am Class.
Finishing 11th and third in the two qualifying sessions was the lead Triple Eight Race Engineering, while AMAC Motorsport was 16th before improving the 15th.
The opening race was a success for Triple Eight Race Engineering pair Prince Ibrahim and Foster as the duo scored third as changeable conditions approaching the pit stops made the race difficult.
In Am Class, AMAC Motorsport defeated the Reap Fuelling Ambitions Lamborghini by just 0.2s after a penalty was applied to the latter.
For Race 2, Foster and Prince Ibrahim started third as four safety car periods mixed up the field enabling Am Class team Comet Racing to take outright victory.
Comet Racing drivers Yusuke Yamasaki and YoriKatsu Tsujiko driving a Honda NSX GT3 held off Prince Ibrahim in the closing stages, but a late-race safety car stopped his attack.
A strong finish of sixth outright for AMAC Motorsport may have been even better if Macpherson’s battle with Ibrahim had fallen his way.
Comet Racing’s success was Honda’s first in Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS and the maiden victory for an Am Class entry.
Fuji is next this weekend for competitors where the Fanatec Japan Cup continues.
The Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS season resumes at Queensland Raceway as part of the SpeedSeries on August 5-7.
