Hansford holds of Bowe in Sunday morning battle

Race two produced back-to-back victories for Ryan Hansford at Townsville in round three of the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters series.

The Multispares Holden Torana A9X driver staved off the challengers at the start, and then repelled John Bowe (Rare Spares Torana) when he launched a couple of serious challenges in the 12-lap event.

RESULTS: Race 2, Townsville

Third place went to Andrew Fisher in his leased Jesus Racing Torana. He was slower away and fifth into turn two, but emerged third. He shadowed the leading duo for most of the race for his second third placing of the weekend.

Danny Buzadzic was third briefly through turn two on the opening lap, and then settled into fourth until the end of lap seven when his Western General Body Works Torana broke second gear and retired.

Forced wide at turn two on the initial charge, the Whiteline Racing Chev Camaro driven by George Miedecke dropped to sixth. Miedecke took back one spot before the end of the first lap when he passed Cameron McConville (ACM Auto Parts Camaro).

With Buzadzic out, the Camaro pair finished fourth and fifth ahead of Miedecke’s teammate Michael Almond, Cameron Tilley (Anglomoil Valiant Pacer). The two earned their spots by systematically working their way by eighth placed Jim Pollicina (Mocomm Torana).

Ninth place went to Peter Burnitt (Torana) ahead of Paul Freestone (Camaro) and the race-long scrap for eleventh where Leo Tobin (Monaro) beat Warren Trewin (Holden Monaro HQ) by less than half a second. Ben Dunn (Chev Monza) was next in thirteenth.

Race 3 is set for 10:40am local time with live coverage on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.
