Bowe claims Race 2 in Sydney in commanding performance

John Bowe ticked off another victory with his win in race two of the Gulf Western Oils Touring Cars Masters second round at Sydney Motorsport Park and brought his TCM total up to 104.

The Rare Spares Holden Torana A9X driver was beaten to turn two after the start by George Miedecke but Bowe out-braked the Whiteline Racing Chev Camaro at turn six for the lead. From there Bowe was unchallenged and went onto a solid nine-second plus victory with a new lap record as well.

Miedecke in the meantime was under unrelenting pressure from Ryan Hansford (Multispares Torana) who was eventually able to get past to take second spot while Miedecke had to settle for third.

Behind the Pro Masters, Pro Am driver Cam Tilley (Valiant Pacer) was in the middle of a three-way tussle with his nephew Jamie Tilley (Ford Mustang) and Gerard McLeod (Holden Commodore VB) before he ultimately secured fourth place.

Tony Karanfilovski (Ford Mustang) and Jim Pollicina (A9X) vied for seventh before they were joined by Danny Buzadzic (A9X) who split the duo. Then he and Karanfilovski came together and spun at turn six.

Pollicina was unable to hold his new-found position and was chased down and passed by Cam McConville (Camaro) and Brad Tilley (Ford Falcon XY GTHO). Tenth place went to Cam Mason (Mustang) ahead of Benn Dunn (Chev Monza) who won an entertaining dice with Mark King (Camaro).

Karanfilovski followed them to the finish, clear of Pro Sports winner Peter Burnitt (Torana), Andrew Fisher (GTHO), Warren Trewin (Holden Monaro HQ) and Buzadzic.
