Miedecke back on top in Sydney as Camaro paces practice

For the second round of season 2022, the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters returned to Sydney Motorsport Park and round one winner George Miedecke led the way in the opening practice session.

At the helm of the Whiteline Racing ’70 Chev Camaro, Miedecke blazed away fastest with a 1 minute 39.0708 second lap to be seven tenths ahead of nearest rival John Bowe in the Rare Spares Holden Torana A9X.

Third fastest was Cameron Tilley in his V8-engined Valiant Pacer while Gerard McLeod’s Holden Commodore VB began to show its potential with the outing’s fourth best lap.

Next was Ryan Hansford (Multispares Racing A9X) from Jamie Tilley (Ford Mustang), Tony Karanfilovski (Mustang), Brad Tilley (Ford Falcon XY GTHO), Jim Pollicina (A9X0 and Cameron Mason (Mustang).

Outside the top ten in 13th spot behind Leo Tobin (Mustang) and Ben Dunn (Chev Monza) was new TCM recruit Cam McConville in his first laps in the ACM Auto Parts Camaro.

TCM competitors will be next on track for qualifying this evening at 6:15 pm.
