Broken leg sidelines Zukanovic from TCM competition
MARCUS Zukanovic and his popular Action Racing XD Ford Falcon will miss the bulk of the 2022 Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters Series after the driver suffered a broken leg in a work-related accident.
Zukanovic, who owns and operates a successful towing and vehicle recovery business in Melbourne, badly broke his right leg in the accident following a fall while at work.
“Back in March I was involved in a work place accident involving my tow truck,” He said via the Team’s Facebook page.
“I had a severe fall where I sustained a broken leg down near my ankle. After a couple of surgeries and a 4 week stint in hospital I’m on the mend. I’m in good spirits, well as good as can be considering the circumstances.
“Once I can start to walk I hope to get to a TCM event and catch up with all the fans and competitors. I appreciate all the nice gestures and support I have already received to date.
“Thank you to all my sponsors and everyone involved in the mighty XD. Hope to back as soon as I can – Bathurst hopefully.”
The Victorian had finished fifth in the season-opening TCM round at Sydney Motorsport Park in March, a promising start at a circuit that has not traditionally suited the big Ford.
A strong end to the interrupted 2021 season had seen the car flying at Mount Panorama’s season finale’, winning the trophy race before storming through the field to finish second in the final race of the season – securing fifth outright in the championship in the process.
The TCM family wishes Marcus all the best for a speedy recovery – we hope to see the big Falcon back on track soon.
The second round of the 2022 Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters Series will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend alongside the SpeedSeries and Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event.
Action will be shown live on Saturday and Sunday on Stan Sport.
