Allen flies to pole, Fardell stars in Super3 qualifying

KAI ALLEN has scored his first Dunlop Super3 Series pole position, topping the field in the 10-minute session at Wanneroo Raceway today.

Allen’s 56.3229s flyer saw the teenager take pole by 0.3 seconds, returning Eggleston Motorsport to the top of the charts in a Super3 / V8 Touring Cars qualifying session for the first time since the 2015 season.

Allen headed Blake Fardell, who produced an outstanding qualifying performance to jump to the front row of the grid right at the end of qualifying.

Fardell had sat third for a majority of the session however a last-lap flyer that finished when the flag had flown saw the Mr. HDT Race Cars driver pop to second right at the end of the session.

That bumped co-title leader Bradley Vaughan to third in qualifying, however the South Australian driver will start from the back of the field following a penalty applied for a breach of pre-event testing regulations prior to this weekend’s round.

Local hero Garry Hills qualified fourth, edging Jim Pollicina out for Super3 Cup pole position by 0.05s.

A further 0.05s back was Jason Gomersall in sixth, while Friday’s practice pacesetter Chris Smerdon couldn’t quite convert in qualifying. Tony Auddino and Steven Page completed the runners.

Race 1 will commence at 17:20pm local time, with live coverage on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sport.
