More to come for Aaron Cameron at the Mountain
Following a strong finish to his second Supercheap Auto TCR Australia campaign and first with Garry Rogers Motorsport, Aaron Cameron’s start this year has struggled to gain traction in comparison.
Two failures to finish have particularly harmed his title aspirations, but the GRM Team Valvoline Peugeot driver is upbeat approaching Bathurst where he shone last year, taking the fight up to Chaz Mostert in each of the three races during Easter.

He backed this result up later in the year by scoring Peugeot’s second win of the season at the Bathurst finale as Cameron finished the series second in the points.
At Phillip Island, Cameron was an unfamiliar 16th in qualifying and spectacularly drove through the pack to pick up 10 spots during the opening race, while a turbo failure in the second encounter forced him to again charge from the back in the finale, which he did to 10th.
Currently 13th in the standings and fresh from a stint driving in the Nulon S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship round at the Australian Grand Prix, Cameron admitting there is still work to be done as he remained bullish about his chances at the Mountain.
“There are still a few little things we need to fix, but hopefully we get those sorted before Bathurst,” said Cameron.
GRM’s expanded attack to four Peugeot 308 TCRs encompassing Ben Bargwanna, Jordan Cox and Dylan O’Keeffe in addition to Cameron has helped in the model’s development a year on from when GRM first raced it
“That’s what we always thought the Peugeots could be,” explained Cameron of it being an all-rounder. “Sometimes the set-ups we were using weren’t working and having big swings, where as now we are just playing or fine tuning, which is nice to do now.
“We’ve got a good package and we know we are strong at Bathurst.
“We should be fast there and hopefully we can get ourselves a podium.”
The next round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series heads to Bathurst as part of a bumper Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event during the Easter long weekend where the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series, MRF Tyres Australian Pulsar Racing Association, NSW Historic Touring Cars and NSW HQ Holdens complete the bill.
All of the action will be live, ad-break free and on demand exclusively on Stan Sport in Australia.
