Prince Jefri Ibrahim becomes Red Bull athlete
At Phillip Island’s opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS there was a nice surprise for Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Prince Jefri Ibrahim prior to on-track action commencing.
While setting up for a pre-event team photoshoot, Triple Eight Race Engineering’s star driver Shane van Gisbergen presented Ibrahim with a new helmet featuring prominent Red Bull-signage and welcomed him into the energy drink company’s Athlete program.

Van Gisbergen has been a Red Bull Athlete for since joining Triple Eight Race Engineering in 2016 and welcomed his co-driver into a program, which features representatives from most sports across a large number of nationalities.
“I was definitely surprised,” Ibrahim remarked. “We were just taking a team photo up here and then when Shane came up to welcome me to the family, which was just awesome.
“I’m really quite speechless. I can’t believe it, I hope it’s not a dream, though it does feel like one, but I’m proud to be part of Red Bull now and hopefully we can achieve great things together.”
Founder of Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Australian operations Roland Dane was also on hand for the presentation.
“Well done on all the work you’ve put in,” said Dane. “You’re official mate.
“When you’re in the car at the (Bathurst) 12 Hour; Broc, you and Shane are all Red Bull drivers.”
Ibrahim and van Gisbergen are placed fourth in the Pro-Am Class standings in their Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3.
