Ferrari releases new renders of next GT3 contender

Prior to the opening round of Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Phillip Island, Ferrari released renders of its new model.

Set to make its debut next year, the Ferrari 296 GT3 will replace the Prancing Horse’s most successful models in the 488 GT3 taking 429 victories from 770 starts, including the 2017 LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.

Designed by Ferrari and built by noted French racing organisation Oreca, the 296 GT3 will feature a brand new six-cylinder powerplant, but the hybrid system from the road version has been removed in accordance with the regulations.

The new road version 296 was inspired partly by the 250 LM, which achieved amazing success at Le Mans in the 1960s.

It is expected on-track development will begin in the coming months at Ferrari’s private Fiorano circuit.
