Nathan Herne penalised following Race 1 clash

Team Valvoline GRM Ford Mustang driver Nathan Herne has been handed a post-race penalty following the opening race of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Phillip Island.

Herne has been demoted three positions in the Race 1 order after officials applied a penalty for a clash with Garry Rogers Motorsport teammate Owen Kelly at Turn 4.

In turn, Herne has been reclassified to fourth in the Race 1 results and will start from there for tomorrow’s second race.

As a result, Owen Kelly has been awarded the win from Turtle Wax Trans Am Series leader Tim Brook and All American Driveline and Auto Parts driver Ben Grice.

The second round of Turtle Wax Trans Am will be part of the opening Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships event of the season continues tomorrow at Phillip Island.
