Ben Grice takes first Turtle Wax Trans Am Series pole
The All American Driveline Ford Mustang of Ben Grice will start this afternoon’s opening Turtle Wax Trans Am Series race at Phillip Island on pole after qualifying concluded early due to an incident.
Only five drivers set a lap time as the Local Search/T2 Racing Chevrolet Camaro driven by Adam Hargraves hit the wall at Southern Loop, forcing the end of the session early.

As a result, combined times from yesterday’s two practice sessions will be used to decide the grid giving Grice pole following a 1m 34.3642s time in the first.
Reigning Turtle Wax Trans Am Series winner Nathan Herne will start second in his Team Valvoline GRM Mustang, while teammate Owen Kelly starts fourth alongside Dream Racing Australia’s Kyle Gurton.
Grice’s teammate Nic Carroll missed the opening session yesterday, but his time in the second places him sixth on the grid, while GRM’s Lochie Dalton lines up alongside current series leader Tim Brook in the Wall Racing Mustang.
Rounding out the top 10 are Ashley Seward Motorsport driver Brestt Holdsworth, Nash Morris in the Supercheap Auto Mustang and rookie Dalton Ellery in his striking Chelgrave/Bruce Lynton Service entry.
Polesitter Grice completed an engine change last year following a problem with the oil system.
The opening Turtle Wax Trans Am Series race is scheduled to take place at 2:55pm AEDT live and uninterrupted on Stan Sport.
The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia field will contest three 16-lap races at Phillip Island this weekend forming the opening event for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships together with the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship, Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS and Turtle Wax Trans Am Series.
