A taste of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia racing under lights
Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series privateer Michael Clemente gave fans a taste of what to expect if the two-litre tourers raced under lights at Mallala last weekend.
Clemente revealed his livery and displayed his Honda Civic Type R TCR at the opening round of the South Australian State Motor Racing Championship Series, while also completing a couple of demonstration laps under lights as can be viewed on the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series social media channels courtesy of The Race Torque.

Speaking on the Mallala layout and its suitability to TCR racing, Clemente was favourable in his appraisal.
“It was just brilliant,” Clemente enthused. “I haven’t been here in a while and to get back out there under lights was epic in the Civic.
“It’d be awesome to get it out here, I think you’d get a good crowd, it’d be a great spectacle and a lot of fans would enjoy it.
“The fast, flowing part of the circuit is awesome, but then the hard braking and tight corners is what you need to get the passes done. I think it’s got the perfect mixture to offer good, entertaining racing, so I think we’d put on a good show for sure.
Revealing his livery in South Australia was due to the Civic Type R TCR being wrapped by local company Check It Out Graphics and the state meeting provided the perfect opportunity to spread the word about the category.
Buoyed by fellow privateer Zac Soutar’s success at AWC Race Tasmania, Clemente returns to a strong circuit for the Honda and his team after finishing fifth outright in the final race at the corresponding meeting in 2021.
“We were already quick at Phillip Island last year, so with the upgrade and the new BoP we’re looking to be really competitive, and go for some trophies that’s for sure,” he concuded.
The Phillip Island TCR Australia race will be part of the second round of the Speed Series, competing on a jam-packed Shannons Motorsport Australia Championship bill.
TCR Australia will be joined by the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Turtle Wax Trans Am Series and the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championships, among others.
All of the action will be broadcast live and on-demand on Stan Sport, with midweek highlights on the Nine Network’s 9GEM channel.
