GT Trophy contender returns to the track
Vince Muriti recently tested his GT Trophy specification Mercedes-SLS AMG GT3 for the first time since last November.
Together with driver coach Barton Mawer and car preparer Geoff Forshaw, Muriti is expected to compete at most Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS events this season where he will hope to challenge class leader Brett Hobson in his newly acquired ex-Nissan Australia GT-R GT3.

“The beauty about getting Vince back in the car is in order to get his eye back in,” Forshaw said.
“He has a simulator, which gives you some aspects of motorsport in terms of braking points and gearing, but you haven’t got the heat or G-Force in a proper race situation.
“It’s always good to get him back in the car and conditioned to the environment he’s going to be in.”
Forshaw further explained the importance during testing to find a solid middle ground between a Professional and Amateur driver when it comes to the set-up.
“We could set the car up to be say half a second faster with a Professional driver, but then its three seconds slower with Amateur in the car because they can’t drive it the same and hasn’t got the trust in the grip level available to them through both aerodynamics and mechanical,” Forshaw explained.
“You always have to set-up the car to the lowest common denominator and you’ve got to ensure the driver is always going to be comfortable as well as not be afraid to push to their limits where the car is usually capable of more than that.
“They’ve also need to have a good weekend as well.”
