RAM Motorsport to give 2022 a red hot crack after successful debut
Bathurst marked a successful debut for RAM Motorsport’s Mike Sheargold and Garth Walden in Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS as the pair finished with a class podium driving the newly upgraded Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Am.
Maintained by Walden’s GWR Australia workshop, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 proved quick from the get go as Sheargold continue to gain valuable seat time having previously tested at Sydney Motorsport Park and Bathurst prior to the season finale.

The duo finished third in Am for the round after a second and third in class during both hour-long encounters.
“I’ve got to be happy to be going away with a trophy on the debut weekend in what was the fourth or fifth time I’d been in the car,” said Sheargold.
Although Sheargold admitted he needed more time behind the wheel, he is hoping the off-season will provide the opportunity to build confidence ahead of next year.
“It’s mainly just getting comfortable in it,” he explained. “I set a PB in the last race so I’m just happy to be at a pace where we can race the competition.
“We’re waiting for the calendar to be revealed because Bathurst is probably the only circuit I’ve driven at, so we’ll try to get to a few other tracks like The Bend or Phillip Island to get some more seat time in the car and get familiar with the other venues to give it a red hot crack next year!”
Partnering with the experienced Walden is another key to Sheargold’s progression.
“Garth has been running my cars ever since I’ve seen a racetrack, so we get along well,” Sheargold said.
“It’s great having someone to help me progress quickly given his car set-up ability and he’s pretty sharp on the timesheets, which doesn’t hurt.
“We’re really looking forward to next year, which we’re building towards.”
