Lachlan Mineeff replicates privateer racers of the past

A lot of responsibility was thrust on Purple Sector’s Lachlan Mineeff even before he entered the paddock at Bathurst.

As one of many privateer operations contesting Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, many personnel are required to complete many jobs, including the driver.

Mineeff’s role within Purple Sector is to take care of the logistics, which includes driving the team truck on his P-Plates.

“It’s pretty cool to be involved in heading up a privateer operation, which involves being across all aspects of running a TCR entry,” said Mineeff.

“This includes managing transport, with this task requiring the packing, loading and driving the team truck. It’s interesting learning how to drive the big rig, sure it might be driving, same as like a race car but pretty much everything is different.

Harking back to the history of Bathurst privateers, Mineeff believes driving the team transporter is the perfect way to prepare ahead of the TCR Bathurst 400.

“I guess it’s unique to be driving my own truck to the race track, but it’s just something that needs to be done and I really enjoy it,” he summarised.

“It is rewarding to get the job gone and it gets me in the zone for the race meeting ahead.”

This week marks Mineeff’s first visit to Mount Panorama in his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR after missing the Easter round earlier this year due to Bathurst 6 Hour commitments.

“I’m pumped to hit the track in TCR, by far the fastest car I will have driven at the Mountain and just looking to learn as much as we can over the weekend.

“I’m loving every moment of it!”
