RESULTS: Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Round 5, Practice

In a strong display on his maiden appearance for Melbourne Performance Centre, Jay Hanson was fourth in the Alfa Romeo’s swansong in his hands as he upgrades to the latest specification Audi RS3 LMS TCR for 2022.

Rounding out the top five was Dylan O’Keeffe in the lead Lowbake Racing Renault Megane R.S. TCR.

After featuring strongly at Easter’s Supercheap Auto TCR Australia round, Aaron Cameron was sixth in the Team Valvoline GRM Peugeot 308 TCR, quickly followed by Melbourne Performance Centre’s Luke King in the sole Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

James Moffat in the second Renault Megane R.S. TCR, Tilton Racing’s Brad Shiels in the lead Hyundai i30 N TCR and Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR driver John Martin completed the 10.

The second session went through interruption free, but three red flag periods halted proceedings in opening practice.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia debutant Keegan Brain was first to come unstuck as he hit the wall driving the second Purple Sector Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR in the first sector, then Chaz Mostert made contact with the wall at Reid Park after sliding on oil.

Finally, a rim problem at The Chase ended with Zac Soutar ending the session in the sand trap.

Cox was on top in the opening session, achieving a 2m 17.1491s to lead Cameron, King, Shiels and Martin.
