N Performance expands partnership with HMO Customer Racing

Leading Supercheap Auto TCR Australia team HMO Customer Racing and its driver Josh Buchan has welcomed extended support from Hyundai’s sub-brand N Performance for the TCR Bathurst 400 this week.

Buchan currently sits third in the standings entering the Bathurst finale, just ahead of team-mate Nathan Morcom as both remain a mathematical chance to win the title, which the team secured in 2019 with Will Brown.

HMO Customer Racing is the form team approaching Bathurst after Buchan took two wins last time out at Sydney Motorsport Park, with Morcom backing up to take third in the final race of the weekend.

Recently, N Performance hosted some of Australia’s leading journalists to launch its i20 N and KONA N variants using HMO Customer Racing’s Sydney headquarters as the venue to give the media its first sample of the two new models.

Buchan continues to enjoy a close relationship with the N Performance brand through his role as a driver trainer on its corporate days and tester of its new variants.

For N Performance, sponsoring Buchan is only part of its role at Bathurst as an activation in Harris Park will give race fans first-hand experience of all models under the umbrella, including the new i20 N and KONA N.

This will extend to HMO Customer Racing attending this year’s N Performance festival at Winton in December, showcasing the TCR product to keen supporters of the Hyundai’s sub-brand.

Joining N Performance as a new supporter for Buchan, Nulon Oils have also come onboard as a supporter.

Practice for the TCR Bathurst 4000 kicks off today with two sessions, followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Wednesday, Race 2 on Friday and the third and final race on Saturday.

All TCR races will be 21 laps in length, making up the inaugural 400km event.

“It’s no secret that the manufacturer is one of the reasons for where I am,” said Buchan.

“It’s a credit to Barry, Rob and the whole HMO Customer Racing crew for hustling it along, while it’s great to don the N Performance brand at the biggest event of the year.

“It’s exciting, the i30 N TCR looks good and can’t wait to represent N Performance at Bathurst.”

Guido Schenken
PR & CSR Senior Manager, Hyundai Motor Company Australia

“The high performance ‘N’ logo, appearing for the first time on the HMO Customer Racing cars, is an indication of the growing partnership between our two organisations,” said Schenken.

“It’s also timely given Hyundai will be present at next week’s Bathurst 1000 with a five car display stand, showcasing our entire N model range to the race fans in attendance.

“As a further sign of this growing partnership, we recently held the media launch for our i20 N and KONA N at the HMO headquarters, showcasing the team and i30 N TCR race cars alongside our new high performance road cars.

“In December, HMO will also attend Hyundai’s annual ‘N Festival’ taking place this year at Winton Motor Raceway, where a few lucky N owners will be strapping in for passenger hot laps in the i30 N TCR.

Matt Braid

Australian Racing Group, CEO

“It is great to see Hyundai increase its support for HMO Customer Racing in the TCR Australia Series,” said Braid.

“Hyundai has proved to be one of the most successful cars on track, having won the inaugural TCR Australia Series in 2019, and we have seen its interest grow to a point that now, it is representing directly with the team and Josh Buchan.

“The N Performance brand is an important element of Hyundai’s presence in Australia, and there’s no better place for the brand to be seen on a race car than at Mount Panorama this week.”
