GT World Challenge Australia schedule finalised for Bathurst

The schedule for the final round of the inaugural Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Bathurst has been revealed.

Featuring a growing grid of exotic GT cars representing Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Audi, Lamborghini and more, it will be the second time the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS has visited the prestigious venue after contesting Round 2 during Easter’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event.

Action starts on Tuesday at 10:00am with Practice 1 and is followed by another session at 1:10pm.

Wednesday will host the two 20-minute Qualifying sessions to decide the grid for both one hour, title deciding races.

The opening encounter takes place at 11:15am Thursday, while Friday’s series finale will commence at 8:55am.

Melbourne Performance Centre’s Yasser Shahin leads the Pro-Am points score in his Audi R8 GT3 LMS by 37-points ahead of Prince Jefri Ibrahim driving the Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Shahin’s MPC teammate Tony Bates sits fourth 56-points in arrears.

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 shared by Andrew Macpherson and Ben Porter holds a slender five-point lead ahead of the Aston Martin of Tony Quinn in the Am classification.

Arthur Abrahams is a further 23-points back.

In GT Trophy, just 20-points separate local driver Brad Schumacher in his Audi R8 GT3 LMS Ultra and Brett Hobson in the crowd pleasing Nissan GT-R GT3 heading into the final two races.
