Cox – “I have unfinished business”
It’s a case of just sending it for early Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series leader Jordan Cox as he tries to reclaim ground in the title race.
Since Symmons Plains, Cox’s season has been hit with incidents and mechanical failures, which have dropped the Garry Rogers Motorsport Alfa Romeo driver down to eighth in the standings.

Rejuvenated during the break between rounds, Cox is keen to make up for lost ground as the season approaches its conclusion.
“It’s a good position for me considering I think I’ve got the pace to mix up the front still and I’ve got time to claw that back,” Cox said.
“I’m a bit optimistic about it. All of the drivers in the top 10 are good, in good cars and know how to race well, so it won’t be an easy task.”
Expected to be a major player in the battle for second place, Cox has maintained the same attitude throughout the season and this won’t change.
“I’m just taking it one race meeting at a time,” he said. “I had that approach when I was leading the series earlier in the year and it didn’t work out, but I still think it’s the right approach to have though.
“Every race I’ll give 100 percent and go from there.”
Returning to the Mountain later in the year is a prospect Cox is eagerly anticipating as he aims to make amends after a tyre failure in qualifying forced him to start from the back.
Cox then proceeded to scythe his way through the field in the following three races to end up third in Race 3, right behind GRM stablemate Aaron Cameron and race winner Chaz Mostert.
“I feel as though I have a bit of unfinished business there,” Cox emphasised.
“We had an up and down weekend last time so I’m keen to go back to have another crack.
“Bathurst is a special place to race at and there’s obviously that feeling of elation of racing there.
“We’ll be going there guns blazing, that’s for sure.”
According to Cox, there will be no games in qualifying due to the inverted top 10 for Race 2, though he is prepared to demonstrate his overtaking prowess in front of a large crowd at Bathurst.
“Just send it, all or nothing,” he laughed.
“I’ve had plenty of experience coming from the back this year, Bathurst is a place you can pass so you just got to make do with whatever is thrown at you.”
Degradation is sure to be a concern for drivers across the three 21-lap races making up the TCR Bathurst 400, but Cox believes there will be another area to manage.
“Tyre wear I don’t think is too bad at Bathurst, particularly on a TCR, but brakes will be an issue,” he admitted.
