Comment from ARG regarding the cancellation of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International

We share the disappointment that many fans and supporters are experiencing with the cancellation of the 2021 Supercheap Auto Bathurst International for the second consecutive year due to COVID-19.

Much like in 2020, the existing uncertainty of State border restrictions and the ability to hold events across the country has resulted in many event postponements and cancellations.

The level of uncertainty ensured we needed to decide sooner, rather than later, on our ability to successfully stage the event this year.

Fans who have already purchased tickets or a campsite spot for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will be refunded within 14 days of the announcement.

They are also urged to keep an eye out on our websites and social media channels for details about ticketing for the massive Bathurst 1000 event this November 30-December 5.

This event will include the five key ARG categories amidst a who’s who of Australian Motorsport in a spectacular finish to the season – literally ending the year on a high.

It means the headline Supercheap Auto TCR Australia ‘TCR Bathurst 400’ race, Gulf Western Oil TCM ‘Mountain Masters’, the S5000 Tasman Series, Dunlop Super 3 Series, Trans Am Series and Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will all be on track.

If possible, we would urge fans already planning to attend the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International to consider attending to support those categories in person.

The date ensures the best possible chances of Covid-19 related restrictions being eased so fans can attend – and potentially travel from interstate to do so.

Our full attention now has shifted towards planning for the 2022 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, which will once again fill the Easter long weekend (April 15 to 17) with sensational racing from all types of cars and drivers.

We also reinforce that we are committed to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International moving forward. It is a key pillar of ARG’s plans for our events and our categories and will make its debut next year.

The early interest in the event, its concept and format has given us enormous confidence that it will be a great success when it does finally launch in the fourth quarter of 2022.
