Cameron Crick working on National Trans Am Series return

Second-generation driver Cameron Crick is planning a return to the National Trans Am Series in 2022.

Crick contested the maiden Trans Am National Series event in support of the Adelaide 500 in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted racing last year.

Ending the weekend of racing third behind the two title contenders for the 2021 National Trans Am Series title Aaron Seton and Nathan Herne, Crick is focused on making a return to the category next year.

Crick highlighted his supporters were attracted to the growth and increased recognition the National Trans Am Series is experiencing currently.

“We’ve got a few options and a new partner involved at the moment,” said Crick.

“It’s something that I’ve wanted to do, even since Adelaide. I guess there was a bit of a question mark over some of my sponsors not knowing how good the television package was going to be and all the rest of it, but now as we know it’s growing.

“There are more cars coming, it’s a pretty well known and attractive category where we’ve had requests by certain sponsors (to enter it).”

Featuring a resume encompassing an array of categories, Crick explained the Melbourne Performance Centre-prepared Dodge Challenger was a seamless transition to make.

“I love them and I felt like we adapted fairly fast,” Crick explained.

“The only thing that was a little bit different was just the way the gearbox worked compared to most that I’ve used previously. The way the car handles and set on the tyre, I found it all pretty comfortable straight away.

“We ended up third (in Adelaide) with only Aaron Seton and Nathan Herne that were a bit quicker up the road.

“I wanted to still be a part of it, the cars are affordable, fast, they move around a lot and a Trans Am car does that quite nicely with a lot of power.”

The next round of the National Trans Am Series will be held at Morgan Park Raceway on August 15-17. CLICK HERE for tickets.
