Shockwave Signs racing set with stunning Lancer livery
Two long-time endurance racing and Production Car contenders have joined forces for this year’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour aboard the Shockwave Signs Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
Jimmy Vernon and Mark Griffith will join forces at Mount Panorama for this year and have a history of sharing different vehicles in long-distance races.

As well as having driven a Ginetta GT4 car in the Bathurst 12 Hour, Vernon and Griffith have twice shared the latter’s Toyota Echo Production Car, notching up a Class E victory along the way.
Both have made multiple 6-hour starts in the past, their experience set to give the Sydney-based team – headed up by Jimmy’s father, John – a strong platform for this year’s race.
The Shockwave Signs Lancer has had a livery refresh ahead of the April 2-4 event, the regular bright green and blue hues replaced with a stunning red and sliver scheme.
“We’ve been running in Production Cars since 2016 with some great results along the way,” Jimmy Vernon – who won the 2017 Toyota 86 Racing series – said.
“We’ve got a bunch of new and great sponsors jumping on board for the event and we’re really pleased with how the car looks for the Bathurst 6 hour this year.
“Both Mark and I are very experienced in lots of different vehicles, but also at Mount Panorama which is so important in a race like this.
“The Evo is a bit different from Griffo’s Echo, or the Ginetta, but it’s a great car and well proven at Mount Panorama.”
The Shockwave signs Evo will sport number 19 this year and will be entered in the fiercely competitive A1 class for Extreme Performance, Forced Induction vehicles.
16 cars are entered in the class, along with a further 13 in A2 for normally aspirated cars.
62 cars are entered for the 2021 running of the event, which will be broadcast live and free on the screens of Seven.
