Chelsea Angelo reveals new backers for Volkswagen entry
Chelsea Angelo will make her return to the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series with extra backing from Sparesbox and Code Black Coffee Roasters at Phillip Island in two weeks time.
The young Melbourne driver announced recently that she will re-enter the turbo-charged touring car class, driving the Astrontech Volkswagen Golf GTI prepared by leading team Melbourne Performance Centre.
The VW Golf will continue to sport its familiar white, orange and blue hues that Angelo debuted at the ill-fated Australian Grand Prix event at Albert Park in March 2020, with the addition of Sparesbox and Code Black Coffee Roasters branding.
Angelo’s new backers will also appear on her racing helmet.
The entry of the Volkswagen means that the amount of car makers in the 2021 TCR Australia Series has bumped up to seven in total, joining Audi, Honda, Hyundai, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and Renault on the grid.
Angelo says that she is grateful for the extra support that has ensured that she will be on the grid at Phillip Island.
“It’s great to welcome Sparebox and Code Black Coffee Roasters into my TCR Australia program for Phillip Island,” said Angelo.
“At this stage, it’s only a one off deal for me to be on the grid, but I’m hoping that some good results will mean that we can press on for the remaining rounds of the season.
“Phillip Island is one off my favourite tracks, and I’ve had some really good results there in the past, so I can’t wait to get the Astrontech Golf down there and get back into it.”
Round 2 of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series will be held on March 12-14, with other categories including S5000, Trans Am and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS.
