Newest Trans Am racer raring to get 2021 season started
New South Welshman Zach Loscialpo will compete in all six rounds of the 2021 National Trans Am Series, kicking off in Tasmania in January.
The 26-year-old from the western Sydney suburb of Dural is making the step up to the top-line Trans Am league after spending several years in NSW Production Car racing and Toyota 86 competition.
After contesting a number of state-level Trans Am races in his family-run Excelerate Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro, Loscialpo is looking forward to the competitive, yet fun challenge of Trans Am racing.
“We wanted something different, faster and more like a race car to take the next step in our team’s journey,” said Loscialpo.
“I did a test day and we loved the car. It’s a really cool new challenge and an awesome category.
“There’s a few guys that we know who are racing them too, so it will be great to race against some good people – close competition and a few laughs along the way.”
The opening round at Symmons Plains will be the first time that Loscialpo has competed at the Tasmanian circuit but says that he is confident of finding his feet.
“I haven’t raced at Symmons Plains. In fact, it will be the first time that I’ve ever been to Tassie!” he said.
“It will be a good challenge. We are still getting used to the cars, but Symmons Plains is a fast, flowing track, so it will be interesting to see how the cars perform.
“It might be a bit hairy at first, but by the end of the weekend, I’m sure it will be fine.”
The Trans Am races at Symmons Plains Raceway will also see a huge field of TCR Australia, S5000 and Touring Car Masters cars converge on the Apple Isle, celebrating the restart of national racing in 2021.
