Ryan Hansford confident Adelaide was no fluke
Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters leading driver Ryan Hansford is confident that the speed he showed in the opening round of the championship in Adelaide is genuine.
After winning two of the three races, Hansford and his Multispares-backed Torana currently sits second in the standings behind Adam Bressington.
Hansford recently tested the Torana at Queensland Raceway, and was pleased to report that the car is fast and ready to take on the established TCM racers.
“I am very happy to report that Adelaide was no fluke,” said Hansford.
“I hopped back into the Torana recently and was surprised just how fast it was around our local track (Queensland Raceway) after already being fast there but now I’m sure we have the Torana set up.
“We should only have to make small adjustments from track to track.”
Like all racing series around Australia, the TCM category has been on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but for the team manager of Hansford’s Torana, Brett Peters, he says that one of the most exciting elements of the return to racing is the new Network Seven TV package with the Australian Racing Group.
“For TCM fans, the TV deal that means they will be able to watch all of the races on the 7Plus channel, plus some races on 7mate, all produced by the same company that produce the Supercar series on Foxsports, but all for free” said Peters.
“While the Foxsports and Kayo have been terrific for TCM, we often were lucky to get just one race televised on Network 10, so this is massive for our series given its popularity.
“ARG owns and have the rights to the new S5000 open wheel category along with the TCR series for turbo two litre racers, so for the motorsport enthusiast, the mix of classes being televised on Seven is going to really satisfy a big cross section of the public.”
The Gulf Western Oil TCM category returns to the race track on August 14-15 as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships.
