DAD ‘N DAVE TO TEAM UP FOR B6HR

Both Russells’ possess vast experience of racing at Mount Panorama during each of their respective motor racing careers. The Russells’ will compete in the 2019 event racing a BMW 135i, prepared by Sherrin Racing. Geoff Russell’s links to Mount Panorama include a total of ten Bathurst 1000’s, highlighted by his top six finish co-driving with Rusty French in the 1984 Bathurst 1000. He was selected by Tickford Racing as a Supercar endurance race driver in 2018, partnering Cameron Waters in the Monster Energy Tickford Racing Falcon.According to David, the opportunity to compete alongside his father at Bathurst given both of their racing histories is a great one.”Dad has been by my side throughout my racing career and we have always talked about racing together again one day. The opportunity to do that at the Six Hour will be great and we are really looking forward to it.The more competitive laps a driver can do at Mount Panorama the better and this combined with the Bathurst 12 Hour ensures that I have plenty of Bathurst miles under my belt ahead of the Supercar enduros.”We head to Bathurst competing to win our class and to achieve a strong outright result. I think we have the car and team to achieve this goal,” David Russell said.Russell Senior is equally as eager to partner up with his son, after watching David race at the Mountain countless times across several different categories over the years.”I couldn’t ask for a more experienced co-driver for this race and the fact that he is my son makes it so much more special. I am sure that we will be a great driving combination at the Six Hour where it is all about consistency, reliability and strategy,” Geoff Russell stated. The Hi Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour takes place across the Easter weekend of April 19-21, 2019 at Bathurst’s legendary Mount Panorama circuit.
