ADPV RACING LOCKS IN 6 HOUR PROGRAM

Following a successful 2018 campaign which yielded wins in the Australian Production Cars and the Qld Production Car Series, ADPV Racing have entered the ultra-competitive BMW M3 E36 for their debut in the iconic Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event this Easter.Competing in Class B2, the ‘little’ BMW will take on the might of the V8 Holdens in what is sure to be a titanic battle for class honours. Not possessing the straight line speed of the big capacity V8s, the superbly balanced M3 will have advantages elsewhere on track, as team owner and driver Jason Simes explains.”It truly is an amazing piece of engineering the E36 M3. This car is a shade over 20 years old, and ran very competitively last year in the Production Car races we competed in. The engine had close to 200,000kms on the clock and had never been refreshed.Never pulled down. We have now undertaken a full rebuild in preparation for Bathurst, and tweaked a few other areas to extract some speed. We will lose out in a straight line to the larger capacity V8s in our class, but will pull back time under braking and across the top of the mountain. We also should have a fuel and tyre advantage so should be more efficient in our pit stops. Its going to be interesting to watch the stratgeis and performance pan out on the day, and will be reminiscent of the classic battles back in the Australian Touring Car Championship days between the little BMW’s and the big V8’s.”The team have assembled an impressive team, with regular co-driver Ben Walsh once again on board who has a wealth of Bathurst experience, and the Team Manager and Strategist for the event will be Justin Anthony, the 2018 Class A2 Bathurst 6 Hour winner.Simes explains: “We are really stoked to have Justin on board guiding the team. Unfortunately he was unable to return in the C63 AMG to defend his A2 title from last year, however we have been able to pick him up to run our team which will be absolutely invaluable in terms of his experience as a past winner of the event. He has also previously raced an E36 M3 so will be a real asset in terms of car set-up and dialing in the new tyre”.”We have left no stone unturned in terms of preparation of the car and the team, and our unashamed goal is to come away with the class victory”.ADPV Racing will also be competing in the 2019 Qld Production Cars Mocomm Sprint Cup and QLD Production Cars Massel Foods Endurance Cup series.
