YOULDEN TO MAKE SURPRISE BATHURST RETURN
ONE of the Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters’ favourite sons will return to the series at Mount Panorama next week.
Despite having sold his car and with no plans for a return; Brett Youlden will make a surprise comeback in the wheel of his well-known Holden HQ Monaro GTS 350.
The two-time TCM race winner will join what is shaping up to be the best field of the year at Mount Panorama for the series’ annual visit to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Youlden said he was pleased and surprised to be making a return to a track he loves.
“It’s a great opportunity to get back out on track – I thought it was all over when I sold the car!
“A gentleman in Sydney now owns the car and we’ve been fortunate enough to put together a deal to run at Bathurst. I’m really looking forward to it – the car is still great and I know it can be competitive.
“It’s just for next weekend but if we can go well who knows what the future can hold.
“Bill Williams and I have prepped the car – it’s a small band but we’ve got it back together!â€Â
Youlden has locked away several new sponsors for his TCM racing return including several new names to both the series and the sport as a whole.
“Power Torque Finance haver come on board as our naming rights sponsor – they’re the finance arm of Toyota and we’re thrilled to have them on board.
“Mothers Waxes and Polishes are returning for their fifth year to make sure we’ve got the shiniest car in the paddock.
“We also have Chigago Pneumatic and Atlas Copco back with increased support as well as Orger Engines Austral Engine and Suspension Parts and Centerline suspension.
“We have had so many loyal supporters with a lot of them having been with us for five years now. We really appreciate the support.â€Â
Youlden’s pair of TCM race victories came at two of the series fastest tracks – Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park.
He was a podium finisher at Bathurst in 2010 and 2013 and in his last start at the Mountain in 2016 finished fourth and eighth in the two non-reverse grid races respectively.
The big grid for the penultimate round of the Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters series is set to include 30 cars contesting three races across the bumper Bathurst 1000 weekend.
