JACK ON POLE FOR BJR AT WINTON

In dry conditions Smith’s best of 1m25.52s was 0.7s quicker than round one polesitter Michael Anderson who secured his second straight front row start in the Kumho Series.

It gave the local team their second Kumho series pole and comes after the team topped Supercars practice yesterday with Nick Percat.

Smith held the top spot for a majorty of the session and was locked into pole when a red flag flew with four minutes remaining – Warren Millet spinning his Wake Up Backpackers VZ Commodore in to the sand at turn seven.

Despite a speedy recovery from local officials the session was called with one minute to go when there was no longer enough time for drivers to set a lap time.

Local racer David Wright was a surprise third in his ex-Paul Morris VZ Commodore while Tyler Greenbury could only manage fourth for Eggleston Motorsport; his final run only just starting when the red flag ended the session.

Aaron Seton was a strong fifth on debut and will line up alongside Jim Pollicina on the third row of the grid.

Michael Caine and championship leader Jordon Boys grabbed seventh and eighth Tony Evangelou and Josh Smith completing the top-10.

Having topped the first (wet) practice session yesterday Jon McCorkindale was another caught out by the red flag and was only able to bank the 11th quickest time in his Dial Before you Dig Falcon.

The first race of round two will be contested over 12 laps and will commence at 1:55pm local time.

The race will be shown live on FOX Sports 506.
