DKR CONFIRMS YOUNG GUN IN MAZDA DRIVE

Declan Kirkham Racing is pleased to announce the addition of Aaron Cameron into the driver line up in the Mazda MX6 for the upcoming Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6Hour.17 year old Aaron, will be sharing the driving duties around the tough Mt Panorama circuit with the experienced Father/Son combination of Phil and Declan Kirkham.Following a recent test day at Sandown, team owner, Declan is confident that young Aaron is the right addition to the team.”Although only 17 years of age, Aaron comes with a wealth of experience and a mature head on his shoulders” explains Declan. “From our first meeting at the workshop and prior to having read Aaron’s resume, we could sense that this young lad had exactly what we were looking for in a driver. Aaron shows a positive attitude and a holistic understanding of Motorsport. He is well versed in the mechanics, well presented and we were very pleased to confirm that he is also very handy behind the wheel”.Aaron has successfully raced in Karts at club, state and national level. He also completed a stint in Europe in 2015. A regular competitor in the Victorian and National Formula Ford Series, Aaron has plans to take part in the Toyota 86 series in 2017. He shows a huge passion and commitment to his craft.Veteran Production Car racer, Phil Kirkham was quite impressed by Aaron’s attitude and abilities at the team’s test day. “It is not often that you come across a young bloke with this kind of potential and no ego” commented Phil.  “He (Aaron) seemed a little nervous at first, as he had never driven a front wheel drive fitted with a locked diff before and there is a bit of a knack to adapting to it.  He was quite quick right out of the box, showed consistence and a hunger for more laps.  He performed above our expectations for his first time in the car.”Aaron wasted no time getting comfortable in the car and it was not long before he was on pace. “It was a great day.  I settled into the car and with the team really quickly.  The family feel of the DKR team made me feel comfortable with everything” the 17 year old explained. “The car is a little different to anything I have driven before but with Phil and Dec there to answer any questions I found my feet really quickly.  I cannot wait to get out onto the track at Bathurst and am confident that the car and team have what it takes to be a class contender.”
